Four Connect Without an Agenda situations where the stay can drift off course at Komaneka at Bisma, and the deliberate planning that keeps it aligned.
Komaneka at Bisma occupies the Campuhan slope, with the lobby at the top. The pool and the spa are below it, and after the lift there are still steps to the pool deck and the same climb back to the room. The two-bedroom pool villa is two buildings in one compound. The other bedroom and the dining area sit outside, and rain makes that walk wet. Spending the day on the veranda means a climb or a crossing every time you leave the room. If a knee is sore, if there is a stroller, or if you do not want to walk in the rain, that climb and that wet path are the problem.
"This hotel is not suitable for people who can't manage steps ... I had fallen in Uluwatu and hurt my knee before arriving in Ubud and the steps were a real pain. There is a sort of windy ramp, but it is not very well maintained."

"The two bedroom pool villa consists of two separate buildings within one private compound ... There was no way of moving between bedrooms or from a bedroom to the living/dining area without going outdoors and getting wet in the rain."

At night, down the driveway at Komaneka at Bisma, you hear the river and the forest. The river runs loud enough that guests have wanted a room farther from it. Geckos and lizards call through the night as well. If the evening is free, you are in the room with the river and the geckos. Going farther down the driveway does not make the room quiet.
"the river for us was quite loud not a soft flowing one that’s peaceful but really gushing so next time I’d try to stay a bit further from it"

"As it is in the forest you get a lot of geckos and lizards screaming through the night."

Family suites and a children's pool are on the grounds at Komaneka at Bisma, along with the one-bedroom villas. Daybeds at the main pool are limited. One family with four children took a lounge for each child, and the other guests had no use of the pool that afternoon. An unplanned afternoon on that deck can be lost when a family is in the same week. The veranda on a suite, or the plunge pool in a one-bedroom villa, is the part that stays private.
"There is an odd obscure wading pool and a snake shaped children's pool, lower and parallel to the adults, Infinity pool ... The lift does not go to the pool deck."

"1 large family with 4 kids family was able to monopolise most of the pool area due to the limited day beds available and them assigning each kid a lounge despite them being in the pool the whole time, so we had no use of the pool"

Breakfast at Komaneka at Bisma can come to the balcony for the menu price, so the morning meal does not need a plan or a table in the restaurant. Dinner is less reliable. Guests using room service have found a Caesar and a caprese well below the rest of the hotel, and others would rather eat at the restaurants and cafes in Ubud. Staying in so dinner can be the evening means eating that weaker meal in the room.
"Accept your food is still at a very low standard for the quality of the hotel 2star food in a 5 star hotel. This was more noticeable on this trip as I was solo and ordering room service a lot. The Caesar salad and caprese salad were of such a low standard"
— Guest reported, TripAdvisor
"The food could really do with improving. It feels very touristy and sugar laden. It’s just not a place I’d choose to want to eat at given all the fabulous restaurants & cafe’s in Ubud."

You stop hearing the scooters on Jalan Bisma once you are down the driveway at Komaneka at Bisma. Rooms nearest that road hear the restaurants and events next door. One guest woke to event noise and had the restaurants beside the hotel in the room at night. A cafe next door was loud enough that another couple compared the stay with Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan. An empty afternoon on the veranda, in one of those rooms, comes with that noise.
"Also this is supposed to be peaceful but everyday I had to wake up to a loud noise from some events, and in the evening there was loud noises from restaurants beside the hotel that were directly in our room."
— Guest reported, Google
"Loud noise from nearby cafe. It never happen in Four Season at Sayan. It’s inferior to Four Seasons."

Alternatives: Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is about a 30 to 45 minute drive from Ubud, farther from a street of cafes than the gate at Komaneka at Bisma. Consider it when noise from Jalan Bisma is the reason to look elsewhere.
