Unplanned hours at Komaneka at Bisma

Strong Fit If...

  • ✓Nothing else has to be booked for breakfast or a late meal. Breakfast from Seneng Kitchen comes to the Bisma Suite balcony or the villa, and room service is available all night, both at the regular menu price with no delivery charge.
  • ✓Hours on the veranda only work once the road noise is gone. Scooter noise gets quieter on the driveway down from Jalan Bisma. The veranda faces the rice terraces, and the sound there is the Campuhan River and frogs after dark.
  • ✓The Bisma Suite veranda has a daybed and a swing over the rice terraces, so it's just the two of you out there. A one-bedroom pool villa has a 30-square-meter plunge pool and an outdoor shower, and that space is just the two of you too.
  • ✓An empty afternoon still has a short exit on foot, about 12 to 15 minutes to Ubud Palace and about 10 minutes to the Monkey Forest.

Not a Good Fit If...

  • ✗A low-effort day needs easy walking between the lobby, the pool, and the room. Reception sits at Level 4, and the grounds step down toward the river on steep stairs. Marble underfoot in the bathroom and the shower gets slippery once it is wet. In a detached two-bedroom villa, rain means crossing the open deck between the bedroom pavilion and the kitchenette.
  • ✗On a night with nothing planned, the sound is the Campuhan River and the frogs, and that is a problem for a light sleeper. Scooters sometimes pass the Jalan Bisma entrance, and neighboring construction has interrupted the quiet on some stays. At night the bedroom and the bathroom are too dim to read in.
  • ✗An afternoon for just the two of you has to stay free of other people's children. Family suites, duplex villas, and the three-bedroom residence are on the same slope as the Bisma Suites and the one-bedroom villas, so other families are on the hillside too.

These hours work at Komaneka at Bisma when you spend them on a private veranda or a plunge pool, with meals sent to the room, in the quiet below the driveway. It stops working when the stairs are more than you can comfortably manage, when the river and the frogs keep someone awake, or when 8:00 yoga, the spa, and the walk into Ubud become the schedule.
